Making Memories on Route 104

Route 104 town of Murray: I saw this guy talking to a farmer at the gas pump and even though he had his back to me I knew I wanted to take a picture of him. I heard his banter and knew his personality would show well in a photograph. I wanted the grizzled farmer as well but he had enough of this guy and moved on. I snapped a few with their backs turned to me hoping to get lucky but the farmer left and this guy walked across the street. I figured I was unlucky and started to back out. "Hey how you doin?!" I heard from across the way. I stopped, yelled hello, and without hesitation asked if I could take his picture knowing I had one shot and he was obviously feeling social. Without missing a beat he started dancing on this lawn and I worked as fast as I could. I gave him the thumbs up and said have a good day. He returned the same and sauntered off singing something. I drove away with a genuine smile as wide as his.

As ever,

B.

Who says there's nothing in Fayettville, NC? Mating Mississippi Kites!

I was photographing one Kite, trying not to get too close, and all of a sudden a male swooped in, and well, you see. So I watched for about 30 minutes as the male would fetch sticks to build a nest about 50 yards away from this perch which was deeper in the woods, return to the female and continue the cycle. The male was also being harassed by a Fish Crow in the process. I have a ton where they are actually making babies, but these are the most visually agreeable and the quality and distance are sub-par anyways. Enjoy!
